Yu-Gi-Oh Voice
As promised I will enlighten you with the subject of Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. Firstly let me explain that this isn’t some new series that has been released but rather shortened versions of the original episodes (hence the name) that have been dubbed by a person that goes under the name of LittleKuriboh. Every voice is done by this one man, including the female voices which adds a comical twist.

Trading Cards
Now to the real stuff. Okay, I was following some urls from my owned fanlisting checking for broken links and making sure my buttons were up. So then, I click on a collective link, but do I find a FL collective. Nope: a trading card collective. I love trading cards. I still have all my digimon
, pokemon
, neopets
, and my cool Yu-Gi-Oh
ones. Somewhere, lost, I have Beeny Baby ones, Harry Potter, Bionicle, Gundam Wing and I’m sure I have others.

North Point Blvd.
I ventured out to Dundalk today to check out a flea market that supposedly is The place to go for Yu-Gi-Oh cards (don’t ask). Naturally, flea markets aren’t someplace you’d go to mingle with society’s elite, but lord almighty I was so unprepared for what forages through the acres of junk at that place.

Show Me The Showbag
Maybe you can just buy a Yu-gi-oh backpackThis year's show bags will vary in price from $1 to $20, which sounds reasonable enough until you realise the kid screaming for the must-have Yu-Gi-Oh showbag already has about $100 worth of showbags in both hands. And this doesn't count the rides on the ferris wheel, the hot dogs and fairy floss, and novelty tinsel wigs which have been purchased throughout the day.

¡Acaso No Es Suficiente!

Not Anime Geeks
Started with my mom going to the hospital with some sort of seizure which completely freaked me out. Otherwise just prepared to go back to school. At school it turned out I had some cool freshman suitemates who actually liked to play videogames. If only I could get them more into anime they'd be even better. Though don't get me wrong, they are geeks just not anime geeks. One plays Magic (which we all call Yu-Gi-Oh to piss him off) and the other is a big music/movie geek. Plus I swear they look just like the guys from Penny Arcade.

Young Love
Aaron, my 13 year-old stepson, has his first girlfriend. They went out to a movie together a couple of weeks ago, and they see each other frequently - usually she rides her bike over to our Motel and hangs out doing homework and playing with Aaron. They are both still young, and they mostly talk about cartoons and Yu-Gi-Oh Cards, rather than anything too serious.

You-Gee-Oh?
I have absolutely no idea how to spell that. In any case, I started tutoring again at the Prep Academy three days a week. Yesterday was my first day with my new class and I must say I do like them a bit more than my other classes thus far. One of the kids imparticular has a lot of trouble with math. So, he was sitting up front with me and we were working on his math, when his mom shows up just because she “wanted to meet [me].” No parent has ever done that before. So I talk to her for a few minutes, and all of a sudden she says, “I want to give you something,” and reaches in her purse and pulls out… an ice-cold Snapple! How it was ice-cold, I have no idea. But it was great. Then one of my kids decided he wanted to give me “something” as well. And though I refused a few times, he was fairly insistent. I relented and he dug around in his backpack and pulled out a Yu-Gi-Oh (sp?) card. And all the kids went “Ohhhh,” at the same time. This is apparently a highly unusual and rare gift from a fourth grade Korean kid. So I have a “Ryu-Kishin Powered” card on my desk. He attacks for 1600 and defends for 1200… I have no idea what that means, but I’m sure it’s cool.

Life With Cards
Oh, one other thing about Josh.. As I don't leave the house right now, he has pretty much just taken over my Yu-gi-oh! Cards. (I play, it's a hobbie, meh.) He just takes all my cards for my deck, and shoves words into my mouth like "Can't I just sell them?" and things like that.

Feds Crack Down On BitTorrent Site
My take… this sends a strong and clear message to all the Star Wars fans that are buyng the merchandise, going to the theatre 3+ times to see the movie, spending the time and effort to download the movie for a post theatre fix, and will eventually buy all the variations of Lucas’s DVD collections, that they are not valued. 10 years for a kid downloading Star Wars… what if this was was a ‘Yu-Gi-Oh’ movie? Let’s put those 8 yr. olds in prison!

Yu-Gi-Oh For Nothing
“Yu-Gi-Oh is an anime created for no reason other than to promote toys (playing cards, to be specific). Realizing this, along with the fact that the target audience for this anime is kids, might have made it easy to go easy on Yu-Gi-Oh. Unfortunately for Yu-Gi-Oh, however, it was proven that it is very much possible to make a descent anime out of a toy/game (i.e Medabots, which is no masterpiece, but is most definitely enjoyable). And Yu-Gi-Oh fails utterly being enjoyable. Very much the same way, it fails on every other aspect too?.

Two nights ago, as I was kissing my eight year old good night, she blurted: “Tomorrow I’d like to register pokemon-yu-gi-oh.com.” For those without children Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh are Japanese anime characters and their trading cards are big business in the pre-teen consumer sector.

Duelling Soundtracks
Who knew...I noted previously that the iTunes Music Store at first only had the German version of the Yu-Gi-Oh movie soundtrack. I just noticed that last week they finally added the American version. I still think there’s gotta be some wacky story behind that. I mean, first, why German? And then, with the American version, what the heck took them so long?

Latest Issue of Shounen Jump
Okay, so I’ve ranted before about how VIZ edited one panel in the first volume of I”s., but I went out and bought it anyway. I still think I’m going to really like the series. But I was very surprised when I got the latest issue of Shounen Jump in the mail today. It turns out that they have a little I”s preview in this month’s issue. Now one of the biggest gripes I have about US Jump is that it only serializes action manga. Okay, maybe they snuck Hikaru...

Yu-Gi-Oh! Now Online
Monster card battling does not have to take place in person anymore. As of today, Konami has officially launched full-scale service of its online Yu-Go-Oh! video game simultaneously in the US, Europe and Japan.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Online introduces Konami's new pay-for-play DUELPASS system. A 16-letter code is printed on each DUELPASS card, and by entering the card into Yu-Gi-Oh! Online, a player can download the character featured on the card. Each DUELPASS comes with 30 loaded points, one point per duel.

You never know what our readers will pass along to us next. This week, a slow Friday news day brought a link to software engineer Martin Pittenauer's WWDC trading cards. Working off an Apple Web site feature about the senior leaders of the Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" engineering team, he created 11 tongue-in-cheek trading cards meant to evoke Magic the Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh, complete with such stats as "Kernel Wizardry +20" and "Dashboard Script Hacking +10."

Yu-gi-oh and the Irish (why not?)
A group of us left schol early for BSC (Bangsar Shopping Complex) to catch a play called "Alone It Stands." It's a comedy about an Irish rugby team. The actors had a really thick accent. I had to strain my ears but it was really funny. Then during the intermission, I found out that my karate classmate, Khairul, was a Yu-gi-oh card master!

New Yu-Gi-Oh Trailer
N-Sider tipped us on to a new official trailer of Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour from Konami Japan. The Yu-Gi-Oh card-battle sequences truly utilize all that the DS has to offer. The action happens on the top screen, while your cards are on the bottom screen being moved around by the styles. The trailer is very clean and shows off the DS graphics capabilities better than any current trailers on the net.

Shows Return to Valley
After a drought of sports card and memorabilia shows in recent years, Esserman has made it his business to bring collecting events back to the Hudson Valley.
When his children introduced him to collecting 18 years ago, it was an easy hobby to sustain without traveling far. But when local malls stopped having card shows, Esserman said he had to travel as far as Pennsylvania.
Last year, Esserman decided to change the matter himself by hosting his own card show. Since then, he's been building up a registration list that he hopes will soon be big enough to attract major players to autograph items.

The Mystery Yu-Gi-Oh On This Field Trip
On this particular day in Redmond, it happened to be wacky super-hero day for the 4- to 14-year-olds (and one 26-year-old) at soccer camp. Spider-Man, Buzz Lightyear, Anakin Skywalker, a Catwoman that liked David Bowie music (she had REBEL painted across her forehead) and a purple-suited Yu-Gi-Oh all made an appearance. Neither Machin nor Boyle nor I had any clue who, or what, the spiked, blond-haired Yu-Gi-Oh was.

Naked Gear Freed Yu-Gi-Oh
A lot of fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh anime must be overjoyed when they found out that [Sword Saint - Naked Gear Freed] will be released in the Flaming Eternity (FET) set. Despite the immense popularity, I do not see many people playing decks based on [Naked Gear Freed]. This is because [Naked Gear Freed] has a tendency to promote deck imbalance so it is not so easy to build an effective deck around him. Now, let me give it a try and see what I can come up with.....

Look for New Yu-Gi-Oh Deck
The next themed structure deck slated to be released is Legend of Warriors. You can probably guess from its name that it will be based on Warriors. The deck will be at 40 cards, containing 3 new cards. I doubt Konami is generous enough to include 3 foils in this, so I would expect the deck to revolve around E-Heroes. (They have yet to release E-Hero Bubbleman/Wildman etc. and these can be released as commons.)

Emmeline is Fairy Guardian. Bonnie is Spirit of the Harp. I am Blue Eyes White Dragon ("especially in a temper," he added). Bob is Flame Champion. James is Acrobat Monkey. And last, but definitely not least, is our cat Max -- he's Petit Dragon, "a very small dragon known for its vicious attacks."
