10 Attributes Of Great Anime
From a great list of attributes that make a great anime, Number 8, the right humor.
One of the best comedy anime series I have watched recently is Genshiken which uses mostly situational comedy but has a slight dash of slapstick in there. The thing that helps it work well is the timing - which as you know is essential for good comedy.
