#1 Japanese Anime Coming To Philippine TV
Tough on the outside, all heart on the inside, Onizuka turned to the life of a high school teacher for less excitement and action . . .or so he thought. GTO, A.K.A.: Great Teacher Onizuka, is the racy story of Onizuka, a former motorcycle gang member who becomes a teacher to make a difference and… to meet girls?

Time Capsule
In other news, we’re in the process of making a time capsule. I’m using an ammo box Simon gave me, although if there’s a better idea out there, please let me know! I definitely don’t want anything to get ruined, although a lot of the things going in there are replaceable. We intend to open it every year to add things. We’re filling it with a few things that are important to us at the moment, and were a few years ago. It’s got tat in it like photos of the Spice Girls, Pokemon cards (Bulbasaur!), Pogs, a Hogwarts Badge, etc, as well as having more recent stuff like a CD full of photos, and an MD full of our favourite songs. It has a few nostalgic things like our ID passes from Ercall Wood that we always hated because we’re unrecognisable in the photos taken 5 years ago on a day when we weren’t prepared, and a brochure from the town in France where a lot of the Scoobies met.

Happy Holidays!
I am going on a Right Stuf shopping spree within the next few days. I know I am getting all five volumes of the ParaKiss
manga and a few other things (either Fruits Basket
manga 2-3 or the Kino’s Journey
DVDs 2-3. Or something else). I am also going shopping with Rita tomorrow - I’m not sure what I am going to get yet. I am thinking about getting a cell phone (pre-paid, yo) but I don’t really know if I need one.

Genshiken, Stellvia, and R.O.D.
Tonight I was trying to figure out which DVD to watch and I realized I haden’t watched the second volume of Genshiken… it is a good series… just a little on the wierd side… I know I’ve mentioned it before… but it’s worth mentioning again… as a result of watching the first volume I fell in love with the series… so much so that I ended up getting a set of the Japanese collectable figures that were released in japan… I now have a shelf of figures from 3 series… Genshiken, Stellvia, and R.O.D the TV…

Anime Y Manga

Free Anime Downloads
As a way of sampling a show, this is a great idea (although it’s often hard to get a feel for a show from just one episode). What I wouldn’t give to see the Western anime companies give out samplers like this…

Manga Comics In The U.S.
The article describes that this inclusion of more manga-style comics involves English translations of existing manga comics or newly-developed comics inspired and influenced by manga. Either way, it looks like the march of Asian culture into the American mainstream continues to gather steam. Now if we can translate this influence into more political power, fewer incidents of discrimination, etc. . . .

Anime Fans Are Fat
Today is a fairly slow day at work and I’ve pretty much just been roaming around. Well during one of my roaming adventures, I see a mom and her fat kid browsing through the Anime section. Nothing odd there, cause we all know all anime fans are fat. Then it happened. The kid grabs a Dragonball Z box set off the shelf and starts freaking out like he had just found a fuckin golden ticket. His mom responds with something along the lines of, “I’m not buying that right now, maybe Santa will get it for you.” The kid, in a very pissed off tone says, and I quote, “Man! Life Sucks!!!” At this point, I’m ready to go off on this kid. Because let me tell you, not getting a Dragonball Z box set is not terms for your life sucking.

Fansubs
The fansub scene is two sided right now. There are people who are active in the online community, but can genuinely consider fansubs as an alternative to DVDs. Then there are those who are active in the online community, who consider fansubs as a step toward purchase of a show legitimately. It is the former of these two personas that is the enemy of the anime industry, but I think, at least for now, the benifits of maintaining the following of the latter persona makes up for this. Every person I’ve met online who follows fansubs, ALSO purchases a considerable amount of anime DVDs, certainly far more than they would if fansubs did not exist. I know people who only got into anime due to fansubs, and who now spend considerable amounts on DVDs.

Anime And Manga Reviews
The last time I actually posted a life account here was what, September? Since then a few things have happened. I have attended my first ever geek-fest convention thing in October, which was a blast. I have finished Uni, I’ve started D&D again, and I’ve read a lot of manga and books that I highly enjoyed and will be separately reviewing, probably with major spoilage here, in the near future.

Vampire Roto League
Click through for all the rules.Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first Anime on My Mind Roto League! Inspired by the crappy performance of my NBA fantasy team, I figured this post will be a nice break from all the fanservice, melon bread, and Top Ten lists that I’m so fond of. The rules for AoMM’s league are simple, and should be familiar for people who have done roto fantasy before: competitors are ranked for certain criteria, with the highest ranked for that criteria receiving the most points.
