Full Metal Alchemist Marathon
wow, Yesterday I pulled a Full Metal Alchemist marathon and ended up watching 31 episodes, getting me up to episode 44. That’s the most anime I’ve ever watched in one day, my previous record was 26 episodes. It’s good to be back ^_^

All I Got Was This Stupid Poster
They got me a “Fruits Basket” poster while they were there. Which is an inside joke, seeing as how I don’t really like Fruits Basket.

New Layout Coming Soon?
Yeah, when I bought the Angel Cage artbook, I got inspired to make a new layout for this blog. However, as I was flipping through the pages, the artwork is fantastic and all, but there really wasn’t any pictures that I felt like using. So, I resorted to another manga series…. Hana Kimi. The layout is in the works, but I feel like its missing something. Here’s a screenshot of the layout in Photoshop (click on the image to enlarge):

Dragon Ball vs Naruto
I was just watching episode 50 of Naruto (Damn, I love that Lee vs Gaara fight) and suddenly remembered about this document I put together a while ago. It talks about the similarites between Dragon Ball / Dragon Ball Z and Naruto.

Cosplay Dinner
Also, we have reserved the rooms for both the Cosplay Dinner and the wrap-up event at the end of the semester. The Cosplay dinner is a few months away (November 1st, the day after Halloween), so get your costumes ready! We’ll have more details about that event posted up when they get ironed out.

Fanboy Anger
Also, my free three-month ’scription to Nintendo Power started coming. It’s… full of Pokemon references. That’s okay though. The blantant enjoyment of Nintendo drips from each page. I like NP better than the generic game magazine (let’s say Game Informer. can’t get more generic than that. XD), because of the extra stuff they’ll throw in, like strategies and character guides and maps. The extra features mean that you get more than the standard screenshots and review that everyone else does, whetting your appetite for a game just a little more. They did it to me on Trace Memory and Fire Emblem, the bastards. I approve of it as a piece of fanboy propaganda, because I need that every once in a while, despite not really being able to call myself a Nintendo fanboy. Gotta feed that side of myself every now and then.

Anime Update
Full Metal Panic fumoffu - a hilariously funny installment. Read somewhere that it follow the manga very closely. Had wanted to try out this series after FMA (Full Metal Alchemist) but got distracted. Anyway, mighty glad I downloaded it. Now can hardly wait for the rest of the eps to be fansubbed. Thus far at eps 4. Surprisingly, this series is way back in 2003… now only appearing in fansubs.

Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Alchemist is an anime that comes on cartoon network during it’s “Adult Swim” timeslots. Everytime I see it’s coming on the on-screen guide, I stay up… despite having work very shortly… to watch it. I like it a lot. It’s probably one of the first shows in a long time I’d consider myself a fan of in a long time. Watch it if you get the chance and we can talk about it…. if you’re dorky enough…

Review: Tsubasa Chronicle
Ah yes, the Jade Kingdom. Mostly notable for one part of the plotline in particular which will have me wibbling away with glee when it turns up - for the moment, however, this is a nice beginning, with some decent fight scenes and character stuff. The tone of the series feels much closer to the manga now - I’m sure most of the dialogue and storyboarding is directly lifted from the manga panels anyway, but this arc feels like it’s going to be particularly well adapted from the first episode alone. I just feel it in my gut, ’tis all.

Fruits Basket
My little brother Pete has gotten into the manga Fruits Basket, which is cool. I was looking through volume 1 while home, and this one passage stuck out at me.

You-Gee-Oh?
I have absolutely no idea how to spell that. In any case, I started tutoring again at the Prep Academy three days a week. Yesterday was my first day with my new class and I must say I do like them a bit more than my other classes thus far. One of the kids imparticular has a lot of trouble with math. So, he was sitting up front with me and we were working on his math, when his mom shows up just because she “wanted to meet [me].” No parent has ever done that before. So I talk to her for a few minutes, and all of a sudden she says, “I want to give you something,” and reaches in her purse and pulls out… an ice-cold Snapple! How it was ice-cold, I have no idea. But it was great. Then one of my kids decided he wanted to give me “something” as well. And though I refused a few times, he was fairly insistent. I relented and he dug around in his backpack and pulled out a Yu-Gi-Oh (sp?) card. And all the kids went “Ohhhh,” at the same time. This is apparently a highly unusual and rare gift from a fourth grade Korean kid. So I have a “Ryu-Kishin Powered” card on my desk. He attacks for 1600 and defends for 1200… I have no idea what that means, but I’m sure it’s cool.

Kumoricon Day 1
And holy crap, the dealer room. This room is like the room where I bathe in anime goodness. So much cool anime stuff!!! And at cheaper prices than normal stores. All I bought today was a Tenjho Tenge figure of Aya Natsume today. But, I plan to buy more tomorrow. Maybe a Tifa Lockheart FF7AC figure and a FMA keychain. Or something like that. And probably a plushie and a tradeable Bleach figure on monday. Still not so sure. -.-

Over the top Japanese Cosplay. Do these kids know how to rock a costume or what (the last picture is scary, so don’t look at it).

Densha Otoko
Aoyama-san gets serious this time and the question is, “So what is your hobby?” This must be the most embarrassing question to an otaku when asked by a girl. Etto, let’s see, hmm, my hobby is watching animes, playing ecchi games, and hang out at some cosplay cafe, where the girls who serve you are dressed up like a maid? No, no, definitely not the answer. Wait, wait, I have another hobby. I like to surf the net.

Master Mosquiton OVA
I enjoyed the show quite a bit. A lot of comedy in it; sort of like Lupin crossed with Hellsing. And the ending is decidely weird. (Did I mention they ended up on the Moon in the 1920s)

The First Day
World Lit. Our teacher started class with a short speech about our third eye, and then told us that our principal would like to cosplay Spiderman. Disturbing, in my most un-humble opinion. On a nice note, I’m in the same class as Becca AGAIN this period, and we sit next to eachother. Meaning most pair work performed by either of us in the class benefits the other.
